Yes, you heard me right.

Moleskine Ruled Notebooks now come in pocket sizes! These babies are cute, believe me. They are 3.5"x5.5" and looks exactly like the proverbial black book.

Only Php600 each, these wee note keepers are perfect gifts for the professional or wannabe writer, the obsessive-compulsive nitpickers, or just doodle-happy penners. If you want one, just drop a message or call these numbers: 09175187770 (Peter) or 09178978562 (Jasmine), and we'll arrange a rendezvous for you to start your 192-page journey to mini-Moleskinerie.

Still available: Large Ruled Notebooks and Large Sketchbooks for Php750 each (for Biggie-sized Moleskinerie).

Moleskine Update! The Possibility of Pocket-Sizes!

Anyone interested in Moleskine pocket-size ruled notebooks (3.5" x 5.5")? I need at least 6 or 7 sure buyers so I can lower prices. I forecast that I can sell them around Php550 I guess. They would be perfect for Christmas gifts (hint*hint).

Large ruled notebooks and sketchbooks are still available at Php 750 each. If anyone's going to buy in bulk for Christmas gifts, let me know asap so I can arrange for a discount if ever.

I'm counting myself as one preorder. Who's with me? :)

Trilla in Manila (Pen)

Of course there will be people who will take what happened last 29 November 2007 as laughing matter. Cases in point:
  • Text messages. Someone sent me this the day after:

Lessons learned from Trillanes

  1. Pwede pala maglakad from Makati Trial Court to Manila Pen.
  2. Kasya pala tangke sa hotel.
  3. Pag naposasan pala taga media, nakakalimutan ang nag-aaklas, sila na muna pinag-uusapan.
  4. Di pala maganda si Pinky Webb pag walang make-up.
  5. Kulot pala si Ces Drilon pag di nag blower.
  • Pictures

With apologies to the gay community, I found this one lying around some site:

And of course, The infamous Wigged Magdalo Soldier:

I thought that the armbands were cool at Magdalo's first attempt. But the wig is taking it too far.

Why do you think that I still work for the government? It's a hell lot more entertaining than watching telenovelas.

Either mahal nila trabaho nila o manhid sila. Weh.

At least malapit kami sa fire escape. Nag-abang ako actually ng tsunami (meron kaming seaside view dito sa office). Buti nahiya sila sa akin, hindi nagpakita.

Back to work.

Dictionary.com's Word of the Day for November 22, 2007

deipnosophist \dyp-NOS-uh-fist\, noun:

Someone who is skilled in table talk.
At the age of six his future as a deipnosophist seemed certain. Guzzling filched apples he loved to prattle. Hogging the pie he invariably piped up and rattled on.
-- Ellis Sharp, "The Bloating of Nellcock"
Deipnosophist comes from the title of a work written by the Greek Athenaeus in about 228 AD, Deipnosophistai, in which a number of wise men sit at a dinner table and discuss a wide range of topics. It is derived from deipnon, "dinner" + sophistas, "a clever or wise man."

Retro Gaming

The gamer in me can't help it. I have to have new games. I'm currently thinking of buying a PSP, but most probably that would be a project for next year. For the meantime I'm thinking of putting a new game in my laptop. Nagsawa agad ako sa NFS Most Wanted, hindi ko na rin tinapos dahil hindi naman talaga ako racing gamer. I'm also contemplating in installing GTA San Andreas soon (I know I'm a late bloomer, but I was loyal to the original GTA3, but what the hey).

So for instant gratification, I downloaded emulators of old skool consoles. I went back to my first love: the Sega Genesis. Wonderful memories. I also went back to my favorite genre, an almost forgotten one these days: the beat-em-up.

My crop of games to download were obvious: Golden Axe III and the Streets of Rage series. I then followed with Shinobi and the Thunderforce series (side-scrolling shooters are a close second favorite), along with a few platformers.

First acheivement: after more than 12 years, I finally finished Golden Axe III

Might be the reason why I feel the need for a drink

The Piscean handbook tells me I should be an alcoholic. But I am not, somehow regretfully. C'mon, I usually misspell alcohol with an 'h' after 'c'; just imagine the struggle I have just writing this post. I'm not even sure if I spelled 'misspell' right.

I have this two-bottle limit, all my friends know it. Never been stupid/dead drunk. Yes, it is uncool, and judging from the news article, very un-Filipino. I've never even puked out of drunkeness, though I've been puked on, once lovingly and another just because. Honestly, I'd rather see you people go "Cuppkeyk" all over the place, much more fun during and after the party.

Filipinos top tipplers in Southeast Asia--surveyAgence France-Presse
Last updated 03:06pm (Mla time) 11/05/2007

MANILA, Philippines -- Alcohol consumption in the Philippines is on the rise and affluent Filipinos out-drink their Southeast Asian counterparts, according to a new survey released Monday.

Market research firm Synovate polled wealthy respondents in 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific on their consumption of brandy, cognac, whisky, wine, champagne, and beer.

"We discovered that overall consumption levels of alcohol among affluent Filipinos have risen steadily in the country by four percent since last year," it said.

"Rising alcohol consumption levels would both indicate that more affluent Filipinos have higher levels of disposable income and more social time on their hands to indulge themselves over drinks," Synovate's Carole Sarthou said.

The firm said a higher percentage of affluent Filipinos consumed alcohol (37 percent) than in other countries such as Thailand (34 percent), Singapore (32 percent), Malaysia (28 percent) and Indonesia (eight percent). Locally brewed beer was the first choice of 30 percent of wealthy Filipinos.

For a tropical country, we suck (and Okrayable Friendster Profiles)

It's just been announced that Senate employees can leave by 1pm today because of "inclement weather."

For the meantime, especially lately that I haven't been posting anything substantial, let us amuse ourselves with Okrayable Friendster Profiles: http://www.tabulas.com/~gdwn/content/15285.html.

I have to figure out a way to get home after this post; and considering the ankle-deep obstacle course I went through this morning just to hear the announcement that work would be suspended, i really have to fish-hook myself silly for forgetting to bring an extra pair of socks (which i occassionally do on wet workdays, really).

We suck at everything, including being in a tropical country (keyword: uh, rain).

Fortieth entry (or Bonnie Ain't No Biznitch, He's the Shiznit)

  • Note: I'm not going to count the Chris Benoit entry in the entry count.
Bonnie Now for the story. Last Monday, I was told that the Senator was giving away a few puppies. The light bulb of opportunism lit up and by the end of the day I got this bundle of cuteness.

He was around 2-3 months when I got him. Although still puhretty kee-yute, his German Shepherd-Rottweiler lineage is already showing, and I'm already bracing myself for a monster canine that will lap me up in less than six months.

KimmyPuppy has no place in my boarding house. Well, there can be, but I don't want my puppy living uncomfortably. So I asked Jasmine to "park" the puppy in her yard until Tita Nene picks it up to bring him to good ol' LB to be cared and loved with the other former puppies Ghia (German Shepherd), Rocky (a brown Doberman), Keanu (a Daschund-mongrel, in love with Ghia), and Kimmy (Pug)

We took a tryke from KNL to Anonas. I never imagined this would happen: he had biyahilo. He puked and drooled all over the tryke floor. If it wasn't a rainy afternoon, the sight would be disgusting and embarrassing. At least it wasn't exactly barf--it was just drool and other clear fluids. But when we disembarked he tossed out the icky yet colorful stuff barf should be.

After making the puppy more comfortable I phoned Jasmine (she wasn’t home yet) and told her what happened on our way here. That’s when she came up with the name. “Naku, dapat siguro uminom muna siya ng Bonamine.”

I’m already a bit dyahe with the Ferrers for doing me this favour (thankyouthankyouthankyouican’treallythankyouenough), but Bonnie proved to be what puppies should be: cute and endearing. He is affectionate and only makes an annoying fuss of a whine when you leave him (he mellows down after a few minutes). And Jasmine, after nearly six years, does not strike me as an animal lover beyond Nadare (her turtle), but she received Bonnie with open arms (or feet; she told me that one time Bonnie just sat on her feet and made lambing—“I am cute! Resistance is futile!”). I am actually wearing a Cheshire smile just typing the previous sentence. Bonnie may end up in LB or not, but either way I feel this new responsibility is a second birthday.

And so it goes.

Chris Benoit and family found dead

WWE.com and Wrestlezone.com has the details. Even the TNA website carried the news.

Crap. One of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Owen Hart, then Eddie Guerrero, and now you???!!! :(

Crap. I feel that it would pain me to watch pro wrestling for a while.

Crap.

Thirty-seventh entry (or A Tag from Aldus)

Instructions: Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. 1. I have one of the dirtiest true stories ever told. You're not my friend if you don't know it. If you a are my friend and you still don't know it, ask me about it. One word: diarrhea.

  2. One of the weirdest things ever: we were talking about nightmares with some friends back in high school. It turns out there were two other guys who had the SAME EXACT RECURRING NIGHTMARE AS I HAD. They were Karl Domingo and Joel "Cuppkeyk" Jacob. After that revelation, the nightmare hasn't returned yet, although I still remember the dream clearly.

  3.  I was a singing champion in elementary. I sang Tom Jones' "Delilah" on the first grade, and my favorite was Martin Nievera's "Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin" (forgot what grade).

  4.  I had an Ozzy Osbourne vest when I was 10(?) years old, compleat with chains and stuff hanging on the pockets.

  5. A huge badass acne right appears on the tip of my nose once in a while ever since puberty. I call it "Rudolph."

  6. I almost always eat butong pakwan with the shells.

  7.  I cried watching "Casper the Movie." (Hey, cut me some slack, my mother just died a year before that).

So... Christina Reyes, Iza the Peace Fairy, Ean Aguila, Sheila Paycana, Karla Ng, niningyehey, and Jeani Bacong... I TAG YOU ALL!!!
